The Potter's Field - Cadfael's ordered abbey life is challenged when Potter Ruald hastily enrols as a monk, leaving behind his wife Generys. When Genery's remains are found a year later Cadfael finds himself hoping their new monk is not a murderer.
The Pilgrim of Hate - A group of pilgrims are brought to Shrewsbury Abbey after a rotting corpse of an old man. Imprisoning them within the Abbey walls, Cadfael discovers the cause of death, is murder.
