Tim Burton's unique take on the Classic Children's story can be analyzed not on the content, but on the aesthetics and the treatment. It is difficult not to compare the first Charlie and the Chocolate Factory film of the 70s since they both share the same source. One might analyze which of the two is the closest rendition to the book, which is futile because the book is a medium that uses the reader's imagination and interpretation. Burton's version is darker and a bit wicked which reminds me of the original Grimm fairy tales. I love it! It is as if the whole movie is smirking at the conventions of the fluffy children's tales.
