This has to be my favourtie Vampire movie out.
It doesn't only stand on it's own 2 feet, but it is a great introducotory into the world of Vampire: The Masquerade, which is based on the Anne Rice novels.
The movie covers the Vampire lust for blood tactfully and less stereotypically than most.
Tom Cruise as Lestat was awesome. Kirsten Dunst playing the Young girl who'll never grow up was incredeble, her ability in this movie was far greater than anything she has done since in my oppinion.
The world is dark, the acting is emotional, and the effects are seemless.
Watch it, Buy it, Love it.
