After the release of Jake Blues (John Belushi) from prison, he and brother Elwood (Dan Aykroyd) go to visit the orphanage where they were raised by nuns. They learn that the church stopped its support and will sell the place unless the tax on the property is paid within 11 days. The brothers decide to raise the money by putting their blues band back together and staging a big gig. They may be on a mission from God but they're making enemies everywhere they go. Featuring performances by some of blues finest. James Brown, Cab Calloway, Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin and co-starring John Candy, Carrie Fisher, Henry Gibson and Steve Lawrence.

The story of Jake and Elwood Blues after Jake's prison release is a great story. They are on a "Misson from God" to raise the needed money to save the orphanage. The only way is to get the old band back together. The story is well known, predictable and very enjoyable!
Put on the dvd, get your drinks and popcorn out and prepare for a fun night in. There is plenty of jokes, car chases and music. I loved the music especially, it's catchy and fun. There is appearances by greats like Areatha Franklin and James Brown and their performances certainly wont disappoint you. Just sit back and enjoy or get up and dance along.
The Blues Brothers has a basic plot (which has its moments), music chosen from the best of popular R&B and one-liners and sight gags wall to wall. It was not for nothing that Fridays at 11pm saw roughly the same audience congregate once a month at the Valhalla in Richmond to watch this yet again.
It is the sort of movie that is hard to get tired of. About every six months it comes off the shelves, we darken the room, and out come the snacks and drinks. If the kids are home they get up and dance to the good bits and the adults maintain their dignity and clap along. If the kids are away I'm glad nobody can see us acting like loons with stupid grins on our faces. The film is a lot of fun.
