As teenagers, Allie (Rachel McAdams) and Noah (Ryan Gosling) begin a whirlwind courtship that soon blossoms into tender intimacy. The young couple is quickly separated by Allie's upper-class parents who insist that Noah isn't right for her. Several years pass, and, when they meet again, their passion is rekindled, forcing Allie to choose between her soulmate and class order. This beautiful tale has a particularly special meaning to an older gentleman (James Garner) who regularly reads the timeless love story to his aging companion (Gena Rowlands).
Based on the best-selling novel by Nicholas Sparks, The Notebook is at once heartwarming and heartbreaking and will capture you in its sweeping and emotional force.

I am a bit shy to admit that I actually loved this mushy movie. This brought me love chills and made me feel warm and giddy inside. It's like I'm seventeen again and experiencing my first love! Pathetic. But that's the effect of this movie. It makes us fall in love with love again. I think the main reason why this movie is such a success is because of the chemistry of its lead characters. Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams look great together onscreen! It's as if they're made for each other and you do not want to see them apart. It also helps that the period setting looks very romantic ( creek, circus, beach).
Watch this if you want to feel that teenage lovey feeling again.
I give this 5 stars because of all the love movies I've watched, this stands out. Although the film is full of cliches, it made me fall in love. Watching the couple's love for each other made me want to get one myself.. have the kind of love they have for each other. The cynic would probably say that this is so full of mush and that this kind of love doesn't exist in real life. That is what this movie is all about. It challenges us not to find that kind of love, but to BE that kind of love. Aesthetically, this film is an eye-candy. The wonderful choice of vibrant colors fit the period and adds to the romantic appeal. The young couple has solid chemistry onscreen that it is impossible not to like them.
The enduring love that is shown by oldman Noah towards his life long partner Allie is beautiful, the notebook shows how even after a broken heart you can still find love within to forgive. Outstanding performance's by Mcadams and Gosling.
Guys get in good with the ladies! This movie formed thanks to a great book, will get any guy points in the romance arena. A look at true and lasting love between two people. A must see movie with a occasional need of a tissue.
the note book is one of those movies you can sit down and watch over again it will never get old and you will never have a dry seat in the house.
It really makes you feel as though your a part of the beauitiful love story and makes you realise what you have rite in front of you.
Unlike the norm, the tralier on this movie did not show all the best bits of the film. It was funny as the story was building and introducing its characters to you, while drawing you deeper into the story. Then as the surprises unfold it leads you through every emotion possible until the very end. Keep the tissues close at hand. I loved it.
this is a romantic, feel good film with a bit of comedy. it shows the priceless value of love and memory. a great story that shows the struggle of life. Great for a night in.
